    Naala Badu

    Client Work

We had an incredible evening at Naala Badu for Late Night Wednesdays! This should be high on everyone’s list of must-see Sydney galleries, it’s a work of art in itself. The architecture creates a perfect blend of openness and transparency, seamlessly connecting with the landscape and anchored by a spectacular 150m rammed earth wall (see this IndesignLive article).

The name Naala Badu means ‘seeing waters’ in the Sydney language as the building overlooks the harbour. Interestingly, the original Art Gallery building, which faces the city and parklands, has been named Naala Nura, meaning ‘seeing Country’.

If you’d like to dive deeper, check out ‘SANAA in Sydney: The Architecture of Naala Badu’ book — or better yet, experience the real thing!

Pro tip: bring a strong-willed friend to stop you from buying the entire bookshop!

Naala Badu, open 10am–10pm Wednesdays or 10am–5pm all other days.
