Alun Leach-Jones: Painting and Sculpture
Our relationship with the late, great Australian artist Alun Leach-Jones was as enjoyable as it was fruitful. Working with him on the 240-page hardcover to me often felt as though we were curating an exhibition of his life’s work and containing it within the pages of a book. As well as functioning as a visual narrative, Alun Leach-Jones: Painting and Sculpture documents his career through essays, listings and an interview with the artist.
Originally published in 2009, today the book is housed in art gallery library archives, considered a definitive record of his illustrious and prolific career. We were delighted with Alun’s feedback, which arrived in the form of a handwritten letter: “The whole book gradually revealed to me what I had hoped for but could not articulate. In a sense, Kate and her team made a book that revealed me to myself.”
