NAIDOC Week
Client WorkNAIDOC Week, July 7 to 14 2024, is a time for Australians to honour the traditions, achievements, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. To get in the spirit of this year’s theme – Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud – we took in a performance of Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Horizon at the Sydney Opera House (until July 13). As passionate Bangarra supporters, this was an inspiring way for us to celebrate First Nations culture and identity.
In our work, Ikon is proud of launching the ‘Drawing Us Together’ NAIDOC week initiative with Charter Hall Retail. Centred around its regional shopping centre communities, Charter Hall Retail partners with local primary schools to produce a story book, illustrated by children and written by a different Indigenous author (or authors) each year. The motifs in our campaign visuals pictured were created by Eastern Arrernte graphic designer and artist, Patrick Caruso from We Create Print Deliver.
Now in its fifth year, ‘Drawing Us Together’ helps children understand the concept of social cohesion and community in a creative and immersive way.
